1. Silent, motionless are words in this quotation have strong connotations. These words convey the tone of Wiesel narrative by showing his own feeling on this situation. That he is scared like everyone and scared to make a bit of sound. He want to compare himself with the old man.

3. Wiesel repeat his thoughts because he is scared that his name will be written down and think it will happen. The repetition help readers understand his experience by let us know. Although Wiesel is skinny but he run fast and save himself. Which means everyone are different so everyone have their own way to show their best.
5. "We are good workers. We can...we want.". This shows the prisoners would want to stay and fell it's  good to stay here because they were treated well. But the veteran of  the camp " tried to calm them, to reassure them about fate, to explain to them that staying in the camp did not mean much, had no tragic significance. " He means staying in this camp does not mean much and they still will be kill.
